Catalogue text:

In this book, John Emms has selected, from hundreds of candidates, the 200 most amazing chess moves of all time. In each case, the reader is given the chance to try to find the move for himself. Emms provides full solutions, focusing on what can be learned from each Amazing Move, and what made it so hard to see.
One of the most challenging chess puzzle books ever published. Features moves of astounding complexity, unearthly beauty, deep paradox ... or all three! By studying this book, readers will both improve their chess, and increase their chance of becoming the proud player of an Amazing Move, rather than being the dumbfounded victim.

Review(s):

Recently, Gambit has brought out a number of 'compilation' books and this is based along the same sort off lines. 200 of the most spectacular moves of all time are presented in a quiz-type format, arranged by general category e.g. 'Daring Defence' or 'Amazing Opening Surprises'. At the end of each chapter, the solutions are given. First of all the moves leading up to the position are given without comments, then the spectacular move is analysed, and finally the rest of the game given with light commentaries.

I like this book very much. Emms`commentaries are always interesting and complete, never failing to point out a 'double' solution or a better defence for the opponent. And the positions are excellent!...
