Review(s)
Finally back in print, this enchanting work by the "Magician from Riga" is quite probably the greatest chess book ever written. It was published (in descriptive notation) in a pioneering edition by RHM in 1976, but became a rarity after the subsequent collapse of the publisher. "Misha" was unquestionably the finest attacking World Champion of them all, and here dazzling games are interspersed with charming anecdotes and witty self-interviews.
For the monumental re-issue of nearly 500 pages, Grandmaster John Nunn spent many weeks transcribing the material into algebraic, painstakingly checking the text, correcting misprints and deciphering unintelligible variations. Ken Neat, the expert editor for Cadogan's Russian language series, re-translated two games especially for this edition, and updated Tal's tournament and match record through to 1992, the year of Tal's death. Buy this book, and browse at your leisure- there is inspiration enough here to last a lifetime.
